So I emailed Dr. Dandaneau, head of the scholars program, about that thesis idea.
Which I still love.
And he said he'd never heard of an undergraduate teaching a course. And he wasn't sure how well it would work. And I would need an advisor to approve everything.
Maybe my genius simply cannot be contained.
Then he asked me a bunch of technical, theory-related questions relating to Kurt Vonnegut. I guess I should maybe pay attention to that.
Now I need to find an advisor who will let me do what I want.

Anyway, I think it's an excellent idea, but I, too, have never heard of an undergraduate teaching a course. Teaching assistantships are certainly common, but there might be some legal problems with an undergraduate instructor. Not that you couldn't teach the course, because I think it'd be awesome, but they probably wouldn't let it fly just because of legality issues.
Maybe you could offer a workshop? Maybe something that's not for college credit and is not paid for (which makes finding participants/students difficult), but it'd still be fairly close to a class without all those extra responsibilites and strings attached. Or maybe you could be a TA for an English professor whose class involves group discussions, and you could make it a class project or month-long discussion group about Vonnegut that the students would participate in (it would take place during part of class and would be on the professor's syllabus, but it'd be organized and run by you alone).
Your idea is great. It sounds fun and you'd be good at it. If you could find a setting for it other than an entire class (even within a class), they might let you do it. Just an idea.
